Your kitten is currently eating canned Whole Earth Farms Grain-Free Healthy Kitten Pate and Whole Earth Farms Grain-Free Healthy Kitten dry food. We feed our kittens canned food twice a day (morning and night) and leave a bowl of dry food out for them to free feed on whenever they are hungry.
We encourage our new owners to keep their kittens on the food they are accustomed to eating, but if you do decide to switch to a different brand, the change must be done gradually to avoid any stomach upset or loose stools in the kitten. Also, any change in water may occasionally cause slight digestive upset when the kittens join their new families. Many Bengals LOVE playing in their water bowl, so please check and change their water often!
BRINGING YOUR BABY HOME
The change of environment from our home to yours can be very stressful on your kitten. Beyond the stress of traveling to get to their new home, they are leaving their siblings and the only environment they've ever known. These combined stress factors may compromise the kitten's immune system and cause issues such as loose stools or runny eyes/nose for a few days.
When your new kitten joins your family it's best to confine them to a smaller area for a week or so until they have become familiar with the smells, sights and sounds of their new home. The kitten needs to get use to the location of their litter box and food dishes before being allowed to have free run of the house. Introduce the kitten slowly to other pets. If the kitten is exposed to other pets before a strong bond is formed with you it's possible that the kitten may not bond as closely with its human family.
Your kitten has been using Tidy Cats Scoopable litter and we recommend staying with this brand to avoid confusing the kitten. Place the kitten in the litter box several times a day, for the first few days, to help remind them where to potty. Too much run of the house at once can sometimes cause them to forget where their litter box is. I highly recommend using Dr Elsey's Cat Attract Scoopable Litter if your kitten starts to have potty accidents. We have used it on a few stubborn kitties in the past and it retrained them to using their litter box perfectly in only a few days!
Bengals and Savannahs are very active breeds and LOVE to play with toys. I do suggest keeping feather toys away from them unless supervised or you will have feathers all over your house! They love laser light toys, balls with bells, and love to play in boxes. They are very easy to entertain and will make a toy out of anything that interests them. That includes toilet paper and paper towel rolls! :) They are excellent climbers and like to be up high. A large cat tree is an excellent investment and will provide them with a wonderful place to climb, play and nap.
